Ankeny Chiropractor, Dr. Mike LaBounty
Amazing...chiropractic has impacted my life in such a positive way I can’t imagine living without it.

High quality chiropractic care has a tremendous impact on how the body functions. Everyday more people are amazed!
"The power that made the body heals the body." I remember hearing these words while in my undergraduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa. This phrase motivated me to learn more about chiropractic and why it embraces the body healing itself. While in undergrad I learned about the body from an outside-in approach: medicine, surgery, and drugs focus on symptoms and is a 'reactive' form of health care. Once I learned that there was an alternative to this approach, such as an inside-out, 'proactive' approach, I decided that chiropractic was to be my career path!
Chiropractic seemed to have chosen me.
I wanted to learn more about this 'proactive' type of healthcare. I learned that the brain controls, regulates, and heals the body through the nervous system. Chiropractors work with this healing potential naturally. I wanted to work with this instead of prescribing drugs or performing surgeries, and so I planned my future as a chiropractor.
Now I know it is true, the power that made the body does heal the body.
My chiropractic education changed and shaped my life.
I attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and graduated in May of 2003 with a degree in Biology. I began Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in July of 2003 and then graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in October of 2006.

I chose to attend Palmer College because it was the birthplace of chiropractic. Palmer is referred to as the fountainhead of the chiropractic profession. It trains the world's finest chiropractors, and graduates more doctors than any other school.
Palmer was a difficult and rewarding experience that changed and shaped my life. I am forever grateful for my experience there. My favorite moment there was being able to hold a human spinal cord in the palms of my hands. The detail and intricacy showcased God's human design! My favorite class happened to be CNS, or the Central Nervous System, the same class where I held a spinal cord. It was my 1st class at school at 7:30 in the morning. This class opened my eyes to God's creation and how much of an honor it was for me to be attending Palmer College of Chiropractic.
My job is to help open that healing potential with every adjustment.
My focus as your Ankeny chiropractor is to provide quality chiropractic care to every person and help the power that made the body, heal the body. Chiropractic works, and it works very well because healing comes from within. That is, that the body heals itself, it's never the Band-Aid that heals the cut, it's never the pill that cures the cold. My job is to help OPEN that HEALING POTENTIAL with every adjustment I give. The adjustment releases any interference to the body by working through the nervous system, the body's master controller!
I want to help bring the power of chiropractic to the masses, one person and one adjustment at a time. Patients that have been to many other doctors with no help often seek our office. People seeking improved health or wellness for themselves or their families also seek our office. We strive to create a healing and pleasant experience for our patients.

Ankeny, to me, has been my home since birth. My wife, Jill, is a long-time Ankeny resident. This is why it only made sense to us to open up our office here. We opened our office on December 1, 2006. We decided to name our office "LaBounty Family Chiropractic" because we want to see families and people of all ages.
For my family, wellness starts at home.
Jill and I met in high school. We dated for several years and then on June 25, 2005, we were married. We have two beautiful daughters, Ava, who was born October 20, 2007 and Noelle who was born January 18, 2010. We also have a dog named Kinnick. He is a BIG 65 pound baby that we love too!
We enjoy spending time as a family on long walks in recreation areas near Saylorville Lake. Jill and I partake in most sports but most notably love playing golf together. Our time outside of Ankeny is spent hiking, swimming, and relaxing as a family. We enjoy to travel when we have the time!
Eating healthy is very vital in our lives. We eat mostly local organic foods and often cook our meals at home. Fruits and vegetables are a large part of our diet as well as quality protein. We eat mostly whole foods, but when we can't get whole foods we supplement with Standard Process, a whole food supplement line we carry in our office. We carry a large selection of quality supplements for infants, children, pregnant women and adults. Our drink of choice is water. We believe you truly are what you eat!

Exercising is key as well, although we believe in simple exercises such as walking, swimming, and light weights. Everyday we exercise and aim for at least 20 minutes. Our focus is on our core stability.
A good night rests, pleasant attitude, and peace of mind keep us healthy through thick and thin. Life is too short to live with stress. Our goal as a family is to live long, quality lives.
In our office, I enjoy talking with patients about these healthy habits in their own personal health journey.
